Dive Spear and Sport is joining the ‘Active Kids’ government-initiative to help kids get active during their school term!

“The Active Kids Program provides two $100 vouchers for parents, guardians and carers of school-enrolled children to use towards sport and active recreation costs each year.”

Service NSW, NSW Government

With Dive Spear and Sport now a registered activity provider, enrol your ‘active kids’ in a ‘Learn to SCUBA’ Junior Open Water Diver Course, conducted by our friendly and experienced team of professional instructors. Upon validation of an ‘Active Kids’ Voucher with us, ‘Active Kids’ will be able to access this program at a reduced cost, helping to ensure your kids stay active in this school term; all the while learning an unforgettable life-time skill, and experiencing the underwater world in the most comprehensive way possible!

How It Works!

Running until the 4th of April, participants will attend their course every Friday afternoon at 4pm. These sessions will last 2-2.5 hours, finishing between 6pm and 6.30pm.

Sessions 1-4 take place at the Dive Spear and Sport Centre (1714 Pittwater Road), where students will develop their understanding of SCUBA in the classroom, and advance their skills in our on-site pool. Final sessions will take place in the ocean, where students will explore the underwater world across several training dives, showcasing their skills and knowledge gained over the previous weeks with confidence.

Following their final graduation session and completion of required skills, held the morning and afternoon of Sunday April 4th, students will receive their SDI Junior Open Water certification!

This certification will allow participants to dive under the supervision of a dive professional, or parent/guardian, to a depth of 18m. Upon turning 15 they will be able to upgrade their certification to an SDI Open Water Diver, removing the requirement of dive professional, or parent guardian direct supervision.

Our courses are conducted with a maximum 4:1 student:instructor ratio, with a focus on quality individual and team skill-development. We are one of the very few centres that teach neutral buoyancy first – see why and how HEREWe have also just recently upgraded our training equipment to the top-of-the-line Halcyon Infinity Wing-System, which will exclusively be used for our courses – see how this enhances your dive experience HERE.
